Growing trend in Switzerland towards ecological articificial turf systems without rubber infill

In Switzerland there has been a trend for many years to opt increasingly more for artificial turf without rubber infill. In addition to the fact that artificial turf can be played on in all weather conditions (up to four times more hours of play than on ordinary turf) and ensures a more efficient usage of the available space, it is also ecology and user-friendliness that determines the selection of the mat here. Even the artificial turf area “Klein Venedig” in Kreuzlingen near the Boden Sea, which was built in August 2010, opted for the latest in the series of DOMO®  innovations, Champion Ascari XC, the crème de la crème of football pitches without infills.

Sustainable development is the highest priority

DOMO®  Sports grass is fully aware of the importance of ecologically responsible development and production. All turf mats are produced with yarns which are entirely free of heavy metals. All football qualities suffice with regard to the ESSM standard, which is the most stringent environmental standard in Europe. But DOMO®  Sports Grass is going even further, and busily working on new developments to make the carbon ‘footprint’ even smaller. The development of qualities not requiring any rubber filling is a very important aspect here. We will leave the discussions about any effects of SBR or TPE for what they are. Should the field ever have to be replaced, the costs of removal and clearing will remain limited.
